The Exército Brasileiro (EB, Brazilian Army) is looking to acquire twelve Black Hawk helicopters to replace the four ageing S-70A, locally named HM-2, already operated and also to replace the eight legacy HM-3 (AS532) Cougars.
Local media now report that, after months of rumours, a contractual agreement has been reached. The explanation as given by the army to the Brazilian congress is that these are near-new airframes.
An option for six more is part of the deal, no value or delivery timeline has been disclosed yet about this contract.
