USA - A plane en route from San Francisco to Japan lost a wheel during takeoff. The Boeing 777-200 subsequently landed in Los Angeles.
The United Airlines plane contained 235 passengers and 14 crew members en route to Osaka. The wheel came down in the airport's staff parking lot; a car was damaged.
This was not the only incident... Flight UA2477 was operated by a Boeing 737 MAX 8. An occupant tells Texas media that the landing went smoothly, but shortly thereafter things went wrong while taxiing. Much is unclear at this time: for example, it is not yet known whether the aircraft landed in the grass due to the failure of the main landing gear, or whether the latter was a result.
During the incident it was raining and visibility was not optimal.
