On 13 March 2024, Textron Aviation in Wichita (KS) reported that it has been awarded a contract by the US Army Contracting Command (USACC) at Redstone Arsenal (AL) for the delivery of two Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX turboprop aircraft to the Force Aerienne du Djibouti (Djibouti Air Force).

These two special missions aircraft will be equipped for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations to safeguard Djibouti's border sovereignty.

Textron states that this acquisition marks the third delivery order under a recently established indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract, allowing for the acquisition of Textron Aviation aircraft worth up to USD 100 million over a five-year period.

This order follows the recent placement of delivery orders for three Beechcraft King Air 360ER aircraft, with two destined for the Fuerza Aviación Naval del Peru (FANP, Peruvian Naval Aviation Force) and one for the Aviación Naval Ecuatoriana (ANE, Ecuadorian Naval Aviation). Including the two Cessna Grand Caravan EX aircraft for Djibouti, a total of five aircraft have been ordered under the IDIQ contract.
