Saab signed a production contract with the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) on Friday (February 23) following an order for four additional Gripen C fighter aircraft for Hungary.

In December 2001, the Hungarian government ordered fourteen Gripen C/D fighter aircraft for the Hungarian Air Force. The contract amendment for the four additional aircraft was signed by the Hungarian Ministry of Defense and FMV on February 23, 2024.

Saab currently has a contract with FMV regarding support for the Hungarian Gripens with the manufacturer willing to provide additional upgrades and support to the Hungarian fighters after 2035.

Saab and the Hungarian Ministry of Defense have also signed an agreement in principle regarding the development of high-tech industrial areas and fighter aircraft. The collaboration includes support for the establishment of a Center of Excellence for VR technology in Hungary
